Kitty Love!!

After a very easy consideration, I decided to have my kitty shipped over to me from the states. My cat, who is my life and blood, has been my backbone since I was just seven. Daphne was my Christmas present the year I turned seven, and we have been inseparable ever since.

She had a rough start to life. Her mamma was a stray and gave birth to Daphne and her sister out on the side of the road. Not a week later, mamma was killed by a coyote. A kind civilian found these two little babies, still with eyes and ears shut, and took them into her home. Our family ended up taking both of the babies even before they were ready. I remember feeding Daphne her milk and soft food for a while before we introduced hard foods to their diets.

Most people, when they see Daphne, are always saying how pretty she is. Let me tell you, she’s always been gorgeous. Even now, with her grey hairs starting to show, she’s so beautiful… even if she’s not very photogenic. Well, I’m not a great photographer, so that plays a part. She got her name from the television show Scooby-Doo because I wanted to be like Daphne when I grew up. Who knew I’d more or less turn into Velma? That’s beside the point though.

She’s very picky about who she loves. Sure, she will give attention to most everybody, but she’s very choosey about who to give actual love to. When her hand’s forced, she might cuddle up with my dad (who is basically her sworn enemy). She will give some love to my mom, and to my sister when she’s around. A few friends have been accepted into her life as “love’s” as well, like Emily and Adam. But am her human. She will come when I call her, she snuggles up under the covers with me, and I am the one who gets to enjoy having her doughnut-ness tucked into the crook of my arm while we watch Netflix.

It’s the end of April right now, the 30th to be exact. She will get here May 4th (May the 4th be with you) at about noon. It’s been… a wild ride to get her here. Vet visits, shots, last minute details that we didn’t know we needed- yikes! But the time and effort put into getting her here will be the best thing to happen to me in a very long time. I miss my pretty girl. My Daph, Daffy Duck, Daph-er-ninny, Daffodil, Fluff… Daphne.
